create the world with LEGO and sainsbury's

Create The World [40256]
Create The World [40256]

Explore the world with LEGO and Sainsbury's spring event: Create The World!

Follow Sam and Lily in their adventures around the world with the Sainsbury's exclusive LEGO set Create The World [40256]! Build a car, a boat, or a helicopter with this versatile 3-in-1 set. It includes two minifigures of the aforementioned characters. I believe this is the first time we're seeing the prints in their dual-sided minifig heads (which are super adorable, by the way). To make this the perfect brick journey, accessory elements were included, such as a suitcase, camera (or binoculars as described in the promo), map, mobile phone, and two life vests.

LEGO 3-in-1 Creator is the perfect theme for the Create The World promo. It only makes perfect sense to encompass all types of travel in this global adventure. All areas were nicely covered. Sam and Lily can travel by land using a car, or by water via a boat, or by air with a helicopter. The builds are quite simple but they're more than enough to serve their true purpose, to tickle kids' imaginations. The set currently retails at £8 exclusively in Sainsbury's. It can also be bought online.

The LEGO set was actually just a complement for the promo. The real stars of the Create The World event are the trading cards, with 140 cards to collect. There are three simple ways to collect. First is Sainsbury's Online. Cards are available online when you spend £10 (excludes delivery charges). Second is via Sainsbury's Superstores. All you have to do is spend £10 and get a pack of 4 cards for free! Third is through Sainsbury's Convenience Stores, where you can get a pack of 2 cards for free when you spend £5. Please note that there is a £150 max spend in this promotion.

Collector's Album

To neatly organize the LEGO cards, a Collector's Album is also available for purchase for just £2. The objective of the album is to whiz around the world by joining Sam and Lily on their epic tour and meet hilarious LEGO Minifigures in surprising locations along the way. You can buy the album instore or online.

If you need more cards, you can top up your collection by purchasing extra booster packs for 50p. They are available instore and online.

I bought the booster packs to know if there are rare cards in there. After opening four packs, I'm not really sure if there are rare ones, though I got some new cards. Oh, I almost forgot, every four cards pack comes with a shiny Create card, a special card that encourages to make a minibuild. Instructions can be found online by typing the link service.lego.com/buildinginstructions, and then entering the corresponding set number. The number can be found in brackets next to the model in the Card Gallery (last two pages of the Collector's Album). For example, the Lighthouse below comes from set [10692], so the link should be: service.lego.com/buildinginstructions10692.

I still need a lot of cards to complete my collection. I'm looking forward to swap my doubles with family and friends to collect my missing cards. Sainsbury's also promised to host swapping events in over 300 cafes towards the end of the event.

LEGO nexo knights magazine issue 09

LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 09
LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 09

The LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 09 has just been released. And as promised, it's a profusion of free gifts, including a Bat Flyer and Ninjago trading cards!

Just like the previous issue, Issue 09 is overloaded with giveaways, specifically the Bat Flyer LEGO toy, a Ninjago booster pack, and a limited edition Ninjago card. All that's lacking is a Nexo Power, but that's okay. The brilliant strategy of introducing the Ninjago Trading Card Game in the LEGO Magazines is still ongoing. Just like last month, another rare card was included. A genius move, I believe, to tease the desire to complete the whole collection. It almost worked for me, almost, for now.

A Limited Edition Team Ninja golden foil card is included in every Issue 09. And with the special card guaranteed in every booster pack, I got a Jay & Cole silver foil card. So, by purchasing the two issues of LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine, I instantly have four shiny foil cards. This has tempted me into buying a Starter Pack. It's priced at £4.99, and it includes a binder, a pack of cards, an exclusive NRG Kai card, a gameboard, and a set of rules and instructions. Let's see if I can resist it...

For the LEGO toy, this month's freebie is a Bat Flyer.

Even without a rider, the airborne vehicle looks wickedly hot. The six shooter housing piece instantly makes any build fiercely hardcore. And the press release reads that the flame bat fires lava ammo (and that it's a vampire speedster)! I thought that the Bat Flyer is Lavaria's ride, but in the comics, a Crust Smasher was seen flying it. I always love it when the toys would appear in the comics.

I'm actually excited for next issue's free gift, for a knightly toy is promised, none other than a supermighty Mech Bot! Is this in preparation for the future Action sets? Then a Pilot Bot will be included in Issue 11 (I believe that's a typo below, unless the wrong toy was highlighted). LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 10 is on sale from 16 November.

LEGO nexo knights magazine issue 08

LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 08
LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 08

The LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 08 is hot off the press and it's overloaded with lots of free gifts, including a Kid Clay minifigure and Ninjago trading cards!

In last issue's preview, it was promised that Issue 08 will include a limited edition Kid Clay minifigure, a training bot, and an exclusive Nexo Power. All these were neatly placed in the small foil pack. But wait, there's more. An exclusive Ninjago Trading Card and a booster pack were given away as well.

I believe that it's a brilliant strategy to introduce the Ninjago Trading Card Game in the LEGO Magazines. I also think that it's a genius move to put rare cards in the mix to tickle the market's (especially kids') need to collect them. Included in every Issue 08 is a Limited Edition NRG Cole golden foil card. There's also a special card guaranteed in every booster pack, and I got an Action Master Chen silver foil card in mine. So, by purchasing this issue, I instantly have two shiny foil cards. Conveniently, a game rules pamphlet and a cards checklist centerfold poster were also part of the strategy presents. As if this is not enough, next issue promises another exclusive card and another booster pack (yey! more shiny foil cards!).

Moving on, let's now proceed to the star of this issue, Kid Clay!

Kid Clay and his Training Bot are this month's free LEGO toys. They both look so adorable (and short)! Though the pieces are not really exclusive ones, it's really satisfying to finally have an official Clay hairpiece (three more to go. A Lance hairpiece was released in Issue 01). Incorporating Kid Clay and his Training Bot in the comics is also a nice touch. They were presented via flashback when Clay was training Robin, the junior knight.

With all these wicked gifts, I almost forgot about the exclusive Nexo Power. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the first time that we saw the Minify Surprise in physical LEGO form. I have already scanned that power months ago from the Nexo Knights Academy missions from the Malaysian site (nexoknightsapac.lego.com/en-my).

For the next issue, a monstrous toy seems to be on its way. A Flame Bat vehicle with hot lava ammo is coming next month. As with most free vehicle builds, there's no pilot included. And it's up to the readers to decide who'll fly it. I wonder if Kid Clay will look good riding it, haha. Just kidding! Issue 09 will be on sale 19 October.
