LEGO nexo knights magazine issue 11

LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 11
LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 11

LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 11 is now available, and it includes two gifts!

Or so I thought. (Sort of) bad news first. The advertised free gift Sand Tornado Nexo Power is printed in the magazine itself. It is scannable, yes, but it's on paper. For those like me who expected it printed on a LEGO piece, we have to look elsewhere. I guess it's just rational to look forward to one after receiving the Minify Surprise Nexo Power in physical form three issues ago.

But that doesn't matter, because the real star of this issue is the Pilot Bot!

Pilot Bot
Pilot Bot

I just simply adore these cute little Squirebots! And having another official variant is a big check in my Nexo Knights list. I always enjoy building Squirebots. I find their design really ingenious, in the sense that the small pieces, both in size and number, produce such charming minions. And the diastema (sorry, gap teeth) never fails to induce a smile.

The Pilot Bot can be appreciated more when it boards its intended ride, the Mech Bot.

Mech and Pilot Bots
Mech and Pilot Bots

It's true that the Nexo Knights may look cooler maneuvering this exo-suit, but it won't be as delightful when the Pilot Bot does it. As I posted in the last issue, I think this design is a bit of a starter for the newly released Battle Suits, which are already available both in physical brick and digital game forms.

For the next issue, get ready for Clay in his new armor! The new trans-orange armor may really be intended for the new Royal Soldiers but it's a new armor nevertheless! Unfortunately, there'll be a brief LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine hiatus, for Issue 12 comes out 8 February.

LEGO nexo knights magazine issue 10

LEGO Nexo Knights Issue 10
LEGO Nexo Knights Issue 10

The LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 10 is currently on sale, and there's more than one free gift!

Before everything else, I would like to apologize for two things. First, for the brief hiatus. Life happened. I'll still try to blog as often as possible though. I'll try my best. Second, for this very tardy post. Issue 10 came out last 16 November but for some reason our local shops don't have it. I have to literally travel downhill to purchase one in the big supermarket. Fortunately, they still have a few on the shelf. And to my surprise, it's a bumper issue! That means it's £1 more expensive. But good thing my bonus toy is a Lava Warrior, so that basically offsets the extra pound. And who says no to army building? I wonder what the others got...

Lava Warrior

Issue 10's free gift is insanely cool! Ladies and gentlemen, the Mech Bot!

Mech Bot
Mech Bot

The Mech Bots are featured heavily in this issue's comics. They were worn by the Nexo Knights themselves, and by the Pilot Bots (more on this later). I think these exo-suits are a bit of a teasing for the upcoming Battle Suits (currently a bit undecided on that line). It would have been cool to get each Nexo Knight a Mech Bot, but the bumper price is a big hindering factor. I guess I'm going to have to settle with the Pilot Bot.

Pilot Bot?! Debuting in brick form, the Pilot Bot is LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 11's free gift. And not only that, it comes with the Nexo Power Sand Tornado as well. All of these will be available from 14 December.

LEGO nexo knights magazine issue 09

LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 09
LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 09

The LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 09 has just been released. And as promised, it's a profusion of free gifts, including a Bat Flyer and Ninjago trading cards!

Just like the previous issue, Issue 09 is overloaded with giveaways, specifically the Bat Flyer LEGO toy, a Ninjago booster pack, and a limited edition Ninjago card. All that's lacking is a Nexo Power, but that's okay. The brilliant strategy of introducing the Ninjago Trading Card Game in the LEGO Magazines is still ongoing. Just like last month, another rare card was included. A genius move, I believe, to tease the desire to complete the whole collection. It almost worked for me, almost, for now.

Ninjago Trading Cards
Ninjago Trading Cards

A Limited Edition Team Ninja golden foil card is included in every Issue 09. And with the special card guaranteed in every booster pack, I got a Jay & Cole silver foil card. So, by purchasing the two issues of LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine, I instantly have four shiny foil cards. This has tempted me into buying a Starter Pack. It's priced at £4.99, and it includes a binder, a pack of cards, an exclusive NRG Kai card, a gameboard, and a set of rules and instructions. Let's see if I can resist it...

For the LEGO toy, this month's freebie is a Bat Flyer.

Bat Flyer
Bat Flyer

Even without a rider, the airborne vehicle looks wickedly hot. The six shooter housing piece instantly makes any build fiercely hardcore. And the press release reads that the flame bat fires lava ammo (and that it's a vampire speedster)! I thought that the Bat Flyer is Lavaria's ride, but in the comics, a Crust Smasher was seen flying it. I always love it when the toys would appear in the comics.

I'm actually excited for next issue's free gift, for a knightly toy is promised, none other than a supermighty Mech Bot! Is this in preparation for the future Action sets? Then a Pilot Bot will be included in Issue 11 (I believe that's a typo below, unless the wrong toy was highlighted). LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 10 is on sale from 16 November.

LEGO nexo knights magazine issue 08

LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 08
LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 08

The LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 08 is hot off the press and it's overloaded with lots of free gifts, including a Kid Clay minifigure and Ninjago trading cards!

In last issue's preview, it was promised that Issue 08 will include a limited edition Kid Clay minifigure, a training bot, and an exclusive Nexo Power. All these were neatly placed in the small foil pack. But wait, there's more. An exclusive Ninjago Trading Card and a booster pack were given away as well.

Ninjago Trading Cards
Ninjago Trading Cards

I believe that it's a brilliant strategy to introduce the Ninjago Trading Card Game in the LEGO Magazines. I also think that it's a genius move to put rare cards in the mix to tickle the market's (especially kids') need to collect them. Included in every Issue 08 is a Limited Edition NRG Cole golden foil card. There's also a special card guaranteed in every booster pack, and I got an Action Master Chen silver foil card in mine. So, by purchasing this issue, I instantly have two shiny foil cards. Conveniently, a game rules pamphlet and a cards checklist centerfold poster were also part of the strategy presents. As if this is not enough, next issue promises another exclusive card and another booster pack (yey! more shiny foil cards!).

Moving on, let's now proceed to the star of this issue, Kid Clay!

Training Bot

Kid Clay and his Training Bot are this month's free LEGO toys. They both look so adorable (and short)! Though the pieces are not really exclusive ones, it's really satisfying to finally have an official Clay hairpiece (three more to go. A Lance hairpiece was released in Issue 01). Incorporating Kid Clay and his Training Bot in the comics is also a nice touch. They were presented via flashback when Clay was training Robin, the junior knight.

Training Time

With all these wicked gifts, I almost forgot about the exclusive Nexo Power. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the first time that we saw the Minify Surprise in physical LEGO form. I have already scanned that power months ago from the Nexo Knights Academy missions from the Malaysian site (nexoknightsapac.lego.com/en-my).

For the next issue, a monstrous toy seems to be on its way. A Flame Bat vehicle with hot lava ammo is coming next month. As with most free vehicle builds, there's no pilot included. And it's up to the readers to decide who'll fly it. I wonder if Kid Clay will look good riding it, haha. Just kidding! Issue 09 will be on sale 19 October.

nexo knight racers: a serendipitous LEGO encounter

Knight Racers
Knight Racers

Ask and you shall receive...

I know this verse is usually a metaphor for prayer, but sometimes in life, you just have to do it literally.

As I went to check my local convenience store for the latest issue of the LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine, I noticed that there were detached free gifts from the previous issues sitting on the shelf. These are the Knight Racers from copies of Issue 07, which were already returned to the publisher. Nicely, I asked the sales assistant if I could just buy them. She consulted her supervisor and they have decided to simply give them all to me, as they will just discard them anyway. I know this incident is beyond routine, but I can't deny that it is indeed fortuitous.

For the Knight Racer, I said in one of my posts that the vehicle could do better, but now that it belongs to a fleet, it definitely is.

This small encounter is a reminder that sometimes, all you have to do is ask...

LEGO nexo knights magazine: issue 07

LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 07
LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 07

LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 07 has just been released, and this month's wicked gift is a Globlin Catapult.

Jestro made sure that the Nexo Knights are in for a sizzling surprise in their seventh issue. He has built a mean machine that launches the nasty Globlins through the air. The Globlin Catapult is not just a free LEGO toy in this issue, but also a featured evil weapon in the epic adventure comic.

This month's free gift is very reminiscent of the small Chaos Catapult [70311] set, minus the monstrous vehicle (and everything else). And instead of lava stones, Globlins are the ammo of choice in this stationary weapon. I think it is more logical to use Globlins balls in this foil set, but the use of Globlin discs with slide shoe rounds delivered the promised fun. The inclusion of pyramid ridged tiles in the frame is a very nice finishing detail (or maybe I just simply adore those brick pieces).

Globlin Catapult
Globlin Catapult

All in all, the Globlin Catapult is a decent free gift. It's a nice addition to Jestro's evil army, but it's not really a must-have.

The must-have Nexo Knights free gift is next month's generous offer. For Issue 08, three toys will be given away, namely Kid Clay (with an official hairpiece!), a training bot, and an exclusive Nexo Power! LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 08 will be available from 14 September.

take on the world with carpark north's unbreakable music video (LEGO nexo knights season 2 theme song)

The official LEGO YouTube page has just uploaded the music video of Unbreakable by Carpark North. The song serves as the theme song for the second season of LEGO Nexo Knights animated television series. The music video fused the real world with the Kingdom of Knighton. It showed the Danish electronic rock band playing, and gradually turning their instruments, and later on themselves into LEGO bricks. Clips of our beloved Nexo Knights characters were also included in the music video. Overall, with all the LEGO effects, this is a super cool music video. And as a bonus, get ready to scan a Nexo Power (from the band's electric guitar)!

LEGO nexo knights magazines

LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 02
LEGO Nexo Knights Magazine Issue 02

Earlier this year, the launch of the fantasy-based Castle theme Nexo Knights went beyond the colorful LEGO toy sets. As with most products nowadays, it took the multimedia approach, maximizing everything from animated television series to mobile game apps to print publications. The latter include monthly glossy magazines that contain comics, pull-out posters, fact files, puzzles, and more to keep little (and not-so-little) knights entertained. But the best part is that they always come with exclusive LEGO minifigures or mini-builds. Unfortunately, the new LEGO Nexo Knights Magazines are only currently released within Europe. So, for the rest of the world, here's a little glimpse...

Strangely enough, I started with the second issue, which was given to me by my tita (aunt). I tried to steer away from Nexo Knights at first because I wasn't really planning to start a new collection, but obviously, I gave in irresistibly. The free gift in this issue is Lance's Hover Horse.

Lance's Hover Horse
Lance's Hover Horse

The build is a simplified version of the hover horses found in the bigger box sets. Gone are the color cues indicating which knight owns what horse. Nonetheless, it still looks cute. But it feels empty without a rider, so naturally, I sought for one. Good thing I found a good deal in eBay, with free delivery and all.

Lance
Lance

The epic gift (that I nearly missed) in the first issue is a Lance Richmond minifigure, complete with his lance weapon and a knightly feast. Not only that, this is the first time a Nexo Knight hairpiece was released officially (Robin doesn't count because he's just a Junior Knight, and Macy's pony tail doesn't count either because she can't wear that without the helmet). I wonder if they'll do the same with the others.

Lance and His Hover Horse

See? The Hover Horse looks perfect with Lance on it! Everything seems shiny and fancy, befitting a Richmond.

The third issue puts the spotlight on young Robin Underwood and his horse. Nexo Knights is a fusion of medieval and futuristic tech, so expect a lot of horses. The free gift in this issue is a bit generous for the final build seems like it came from the usual LEGO polybags. It's a bit reminiscent of Robin's Mini Fortrex [30372].

Now for a cuteness overload, here's Lance and Robin on their high-tech rides. Is this a race or what?

Horsing Around

The LEGO sets in the next issues are not as grand but they're still interesting and fun. The Globlin Spiders and the Lava Warrior all look cool hot. The Knight Racer has a bit of a promise as well. Maybe it will look better once a Nexo Knight (Aaron, anyone?) rode it. Here are the rest of the magazines and the free gifts:

Another cool feature of the LEGO Nexo Knights Magazines is the inclusion of exclusive scannable Nexo Powers which can be used in the LEGO Nexo Knights: Merlok 2.0 game app.

I really love Nexo Knights. That's why I'm always looking forward each month for the release of the latest issue. And when I do, rest assured that I will immediately share it with you guys!...

LEGO nexo knights: merlok 2.0 robin's workshop update guide (sort of)

LEGO Nexo Knights: Merlok 2.0 Update 1.3.2
LEGO Nexo Knights: Merlok 2.0 Update 1.3.2

LEGO Nexo Knights: Merlok 2.0 has recently released update 1.3.2. The official descriptions of the new contents are:

  • Boost your powers in battle through crafting.
  • Win, collect and craft LEGO studs.
  • New powers and ways to level up await.

What is the meaning of this? This means that Robin's workshop is now online!

On a face value, the new update seems a bit weird, so I searched online for some sort of guide but none seems to be posted yet. I then proceeded to explore the updated game blindly, and here are what I've learned. Remember that I am no pro-gamer, this is just me attempting to make sense of it all.

The update prior to this one allowed us to collect LEGO studs of various types and colors by completing different mission challenges. But it did not tell us what the studs are exactly for. Now it was revealed that the young builder Robin will use these studs to make gems (tada!).

Robin's Workshop
Robin's Workshop

Different studs are required to make different gems. Each gem would generate various numbers of star plus points and various levels of battery charges. I thought at first making gems consumed my Nexo power stars, but no, this is not the case (more on this later).

Equipping Gems
Equipping Gems

After making the gems, you can now equip them prior to battling monsters in your missions (right after choosing Nexo powers). As stated above, the gems would give star plus points and lasts for specific charges. In the picture above, a red pyramid ridged gem gave the red Nexo powers additional two star plus points, and it's good for three uses. The white gem did the same for the white Nexo power. The gems are color specific, so only equip gems of the same colors as the Nexo powers.

Other major changes the update has brought us are on the ways to master and level up Nexo powers. Before the update, these two concepts are one and the same, but not anymore.

Zero Stars!
Zero Stars!

First impression: All my stars are gone! Were they consumed from making gems? So I did the only natural thing to do: Re-scan Nexo powers!

Power Mastered
Power Mastered

But Merlok won't let me, because apparently, I have mastered that Nexo power already (because I really did!). That's when I noticed the varying yellow glow on the Nexo powers borders. That's the current equivalent of the then zero to five stars! Once you've mastered a Nexo power, once you've completed the yellow glow border, you can now level it up!

Level Up 1
Level Up 1

Level Up 2
Level Up 2

Level Up 3
Level Up 3

All you have to do is to select the mastered Nexo power in the grid (with the exclamation point) then click its shield on the upper left hand corner. Now watch the star be transferred from the shield to the stars collective. This would then result to stronger Nexo powers, or so they say...

Have you updated your LEGO Nexo Knights: Merlok 2.0 app yet? Were you weirded out at first as well? Share your thoughts below!
